Good bye extra weight, hello sports !

You don't really fancy being in crowded gyms but you don't like the idea of doing push-ups at home all alone either ? Let's stir things up a bit, and have a look at some of the coolest sport activities which are very much in vogue nowadays. Don't be shy, try your hands at something new! Hopefully everybody can pick one from this list, as you know it's never too early to start building that shapely dream silhouette for the summer...

Callanetics


Callanetics started out in America during the '90s, and nowadays it is becoming very popular again. Though it is more dynamic than yoga, we wouldn't recommend it to someone who looks for quick results and cheerful courses. Callanetics is based on slow, controlled muscle work and it requires lot of concentration. The focus is not on the speed and you won't loose weight quickly with it. Though it is a bit similar to Pilates, it also has its origins in classical ballet so if you are patient and persistent it will slowly shape your body and make your silhouette more muscular.

 

Hammock


It is a very elegant and graceful sport, seeing how the real professionals do it will surely take your breath away. The hammock and the silk are both based on acrobatic elements absolved on curtain-like ribbons which are fastened around your body. Though as a spectator you may find these exercises easy looking, because they are performed with grace and they seem to be done so effortlessly, but don't be mistaken: we rather recommend the hammock to those people who really like challenges. Are you ready for an hour of relaxation up in the air ?

 

Solowheel

A few years ago monocycles were very cool, but nowadays their place is taken by the solowheel, which is becoming more and more popular among citydwellers. The main difference is that monocycles were actually driven by their riders, while this new one-wheeled super vehicle has a motor inside. But don't you think that it makes any easier your job as you are riding on it: the solowheel is a very efficient sports equipment and it is guaranteed that the muscles in your thighs and butt will ache after practicing with it a little. But if you get the hang of it, this super small vehicle may make your daily comings and goings in the city a lot quicker and easier.

 

Streetsurf


The modern descendants of skateboard require even more sense of balance and concentration than their ancestor did. With the ordinary skateboard you just had to succeed at staying on top of the board, but in this case the movement will be generated by your own balancing skills so in fact it is hard work to maintain your balance with your muscles. Going with streetsurf will be undoubtedly tough at first but after a little practicing you may find yourself gliding gracefully across the streets and exercising your muscles at the same time.

 

Grass skiing


Probably the idea came from those Scandinavians who couldn't miss their favourite hobby during the summer season. If you want to imagine how this funny sports equipment looks like, you should visualize something between a ski and a roller skate. In reality doing grass skiing is just as difficult as the oldschool snowy version and it requires some practice to learn the right technique. But it certainly does form the leg muscles beautifully and it is becoming more and more popular even here in Hungary.

 

Street workout


Certainly the cheapest but probably not the easiest way to start exercising your body and building muscles. Nowadays these outdoor fitness parks are very accessible as they appear at more and more public areas. Everybody can use them for free but of course some experience in the gym may come in handy before trying your skills in the park, or you can ask for some aid from a professional when practicing for the first time. With a little creativity though everybody can find some exercises which can be done even by a beginner.
