The Meg

Jason Statham versus prehistoric megashark - that roughly sums up the plot of this typical Hollywood shark-blockbuster and summer popcorn horror. As Jason Statham so far hasn't found a man to match him on land (except the one Dwayne Johnson of course), now he looks for a worthy opponent at sea.
Expert sea diver Jonas Taylor spends his days drinking alcohol in a Shanghai harbor bar. He is haunted by the memory of a botched mission that happened 5 years ago, when something big attacked his submarine and he was forced to abandon half his crew. Though he survived, nobody believed his tale about the mammoth, 70-foot long sea creature, a prehistoric shark believed to be extinct by now. So, dishonored and divorced, he wastes his days away until he gets an emergency call. A submersible lies sunk at the bottom of the ocean, carrying his ex-wife among the team onboard. Jonas must confront his fears and grab this chance for redemption: this time he is determined to save the crew and overcome the fearful Carcharodon Megalodon - the largest marine predator that ever existed.
