The Predator
The enthusiastic part of the public expected Shane Black to lift The Predator-franchise finally out of the B category, but unfortunately the director didn't live up to expectations because the latest Predator movie is just as B grade as it can get. That is to say, very much.
The most dangerous hunters of the universe are stronger, smarter and deadlier than ever before, having genetically upgraded themselves with DNA from other species. When a young boy accidentally triggers their return to Earth, only a bunch of misfits, a disorganized crew of ex-soldiers can prevent the end of the human race, with the help of an irritable science teacher.

Obviously the director had too many ideas buzzing in his head while shooting the film which results in a rather chaotic narrative, which tells practically nothing about the motivation of the predators and their hunters. The charm of the original version of 1987 lurked in its simplicity: a handful of people trying to survive in the jungle while a relentless alien hunts them down one by one. This new movie tries to be much more sophisticated but in vain: according to The Independent "it isn’t either funny or horrific enough to justify the rebooting of the franchise".
