The Sisters Brothers
Acclaimed French director Jacques Audiard's first English language movie is a subtle, sad-and-funny hommage to the memory of the Wild West. Fortunately Audiard is one of those creators who can still breath new life into the genre: 'The Sisters Brothers' is a highly unique cinema experience in spite of the many excellent neo-western films we have seen in the past decade.
The plot is set in the 1850s Oregon: a pair of assassins, Eli and Charlie Sisters are on their way to complete their latest mission and kill a gold prospector named Hermann Kermit Warm. They are brothers. Life has taught them to be cruel in a world where you either kill or get killed. But this cool revolver hero life comes to an end when one of the brothers decides to settle down and live peacefully ever after. As their temperaments are rather mismatched, the two siblings continue their journey quarrelling, until they realize that a mysterious someone follows them with bad intentions. Everything has a price, and as they ride on their horses surrounded with beautiful landscapes and loaded guns they learn together that leaving behind an adventurous life may not be so easy after all.
